Hi, I’m Karen Luisi.

At heart I am an educator and communicator. My path to professional speaking was a bit unexpected. After retiring from the Army and stepping into voice acting, I quickly realized that the industry wasn’t looking for female voices over 50—unless the character was that age. Then, in the world of improv, I noticed a similar trend: most house team spots were reserved for those under 40. Wait, what? I’m being dismissed because of age?! WTH!

As I dug deeper into this age-old bias, I found that many speakers, books, and organizations are tackling ageism in the U.S., especially for women. But fighting another "ism" isn’t why I became a professional speaker. I’m here because the root of the issue lies, in part, in the stories aging people tell themselves, and how those stories shape the way we show up in the world - what we say, do, believe. Wait. Am I part of the problem? It turns out that the age-old bias is an age-old trap that we can unknowingly fall into like Portia Nelson’s hole in the sidewalk. Ouch!

I’ve spent my life breaking gender barriers, and now I’m slaying the age-old lie that older means slower. My mission is to help others radically reframe aging—mind, body, and spirit—and experience their own 'Genaissance,' a time of growth and endless possibility. Together, we’ll shatter old stereotypes, pave the way for future generations, and celebrate who we are right now. It’s time to blaze a new trail!

When I’m not on stage speaking, you’ll find me playing in the kitchen, performing with a San Antonio, Texas improv team, or supporting emergency operations with my ham radio. I’m excited to connect and be part of your next event where we can start living more vibrant, fulfilling lives.
